Ellenborough Falls

While staying in Wauchope I took an afternoon off my study and drove out to Ellenborough Falls. These are said to be the second longest single drop falls in Australia at 200 metres. The road in is gravel in sections with many pot holes and is narrow winding along the mountain side. Had one close call with a car coming the other way with us both heading straight for the single lane bridge. Pulled up with a few feet to spare.
There are a few walks available. I didn’t feel brave enough at the time to do the 641 steps down to the base of the falls, and then back up again, so visited the Knoll instead. The Knoll provides a front on view of the falls. There were a couple plaques along the handrails of the lookouts to people who had gotten too close to the edge and fell over and died. A nice reminder to stay on the provided boardwalk. There is a small café on site with coffee and cakes. A nice place for a day trip.
